Saba Karim discusses the moment when MS Dhoni initially caught his attention while playing for Bihar

Published:

I saw him both keeping and batting, and I can still clearly recall that he displayed the brilliance we later witnessed when he played lofted strokes to a spinner or a pace bowler.

Over the course of his 15-year international career, MS Dhoni progressed from an unconventional wicketkeeper batsman to one of the all-time greats of Indian cricket. He is regarded as one of the greats of Indian cricket and the most successful skipper the nation has ever had.

Everyone starts somewhere, and JioCinema expert Syed Saba Karim discussed one such incident in the commentary box on the rise of Dhoni prior to his selection for the national squad. Karim remembered his initial encounter with Dhoni and how, after becoming a Bihar Ranji Trophy selection, he learned about his skill sets.

“My concept is highly captivating. It was MS Dhoni’s second season in the Ranji Trophy when I first saw him. He once competed for Bihar. I watched him bat and keep, and I can still clearly recall that he had the genius to play lofted shots to a spinner or a pace bowler while he was batting, says Saba Karim on the News Channel.
