Dhawan will be a part of Star Sports’ expert panel during the Asia Cup.

Shikhar Dhawan, a seasoned opener, is currently irrelevant in the national lineup because Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are in the lead. Dhawan will therefore appear in a new role. He will be a member of Star Sports expert panel for the next Asia Cup 2023, which is set to start on August 30 in Pakistan.

While preparing a commercial for the next ODI World Cup and Asia Cup at home, Dhawan addressed a personal plea with the Rohit Sharma-led team, pleading with them to avoid losing to Pakistan in any of the competitions. The 37-year-old added that although the World Cup is crucial, he anticipates India to triumph.

“The rule has always been, ‘Whether or not you win the World Cup, don’t lose to Pakistan,'” (laughs). But winning the World Cup is equally crucial, and hopefully we will, thanks to God, Dhawan stated in the video.

However, Star Sports then removed the passage in which Dhawan pleaded with the members of the national team not to lose to Pakistan. Although a clarification regarding the matter has not yet been made public, it is commonly thought that the group posted the incorrect video since it appeared to be a World Cup advertisement rather than an Asia Cup one.
