Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif stated on Monday that the Indian side is proficient in winning the World Cup at home this year and that it should not be evaluated based on two T20I losses in the West Indies.
According to the former cricketer, the Indian side can win the World Cup at home this year and should not be assessed just on the basis of two T20I losses in the West Indies.
After winning the two-Test series and one-day internationals in the Caribbean, India is struggling 0-2 in the five-match T20I series, prompting criticism of the team’s arrangements for two big contests: the Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the ODI World Cup at home.
However, at an event here, Kaif stated that India’s fears of underperforming in the World Cup were baseless, though he did note that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will need to be fully healthy for the hosts to break their title drought.
We shouldn’t be too concerned because India has only lost two matches (both T20Is against the West Indies). After the two losses, I’m getting a lot of unfavorable reactions. But I’ll say that our team is fiercely competitive. I’m not going to pass judgement on (India) based on two consecutive losses (in the West Indies). “The only thing missing are key players,” Kaif explained.
