Pakistan has marked a 142 runs victory over Afghanistan in the beginning match of the ODI series 2023. The winning team has maintained its Batting and Bowling unit to knock out Afghans in just 59 runs. However, the skipper, Babar Azam has not made a single run contribution for his team.
Ahead of the Asia Cricket Cup, the Men in Green has actually flustered Afghanistan in an opening game of the ongoing ODI tour by 142 runs. Notably, Pakistan didn’t get off to a good start with the bat, as Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam both failed to make an impact. The latter was phenomenal in the recently completed Lanka Premier League, but he failed to open his account in the opening ODI.
With this, he now has four ODI ducks and two as captain. He has now equaled the record set by Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Azhar Ali, and Younis Khan. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, on the other hand, became the first bouncer to dismiss Babar for a duck.
Meanwhile, despite his inability to get started, Pakistan experienced no difficulties. Imam-ul-Haq got things going with 61 runs off 94 deliveries, while Iftikhar Ahmad and Shadab Khan seized control of the game in the middle overs and helped Pakistan score 201 runs in the first innings.
